Three Word Wednesday- Tulips and Sequoias

This week's words are:

Field
Hide
Second

My mom used to have these beautiful books on gardening. When I was little I would love browsing through them. I have always dreamed of standing in a field full of tulips, ever since I saw pictures of these huge tulip fields in Holland in one of her books. The fields I dreamed of were vast and colorful, complete with a windmill.

Since I was little, I have also dreamt (sometimes literally) of seeing giant sequioas, trees so huge that you could hide behind one of their roots and go unnoticed. Someday I hope to have the opportunity to visit the silent giants. It is more likely that my second dream will come true than the first, since it is easier and more affordable for us to do a road trip to California one summer than it is to travel to Europe. But I hold out hope that I can do both. I sure would love to see those tulips.

  1. In the Bay Area, we have Filoli Gardens - where every spring, the tulips and daffodils are out and gorgeous!!

I got to see sequioas in Yosemite - just magnificent!!

    Thanks for playing 3WW.

  2. Charles, thanks for telling me about Filoli Gardens. I just went online and found their website. I also found pictures online here: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/151977036nvTkDR. What a gorgeous, interesting place. Thanks for telling me about it.

You live in such a great place. The Bay Area is beautiful. I have only been to San Francisco once, on business for a very short time. But I fell in love with it and hope I can visit again someday.

  5. Oh, that tulip photo was a breath of fresh air. What a cheery photo. I've always wanted to be in a field of flowers like that as well.
The Sequoias are magnificent and humbling as well.

  7. Blogger's been a little troublesome today - I can't see the photo but I understand your dream! The sequoias are beautifully inspiring. Washington State has incredible tulip fields as well - and not so far from the sequoias!

  14. I, too, hope to make it to Holland one day. AND to the Sequoias. I've been to the redwoods, and seen fields of wildflowers in Death Valley, but there is always more to see and do when you start traveling.
