Cinco de mayo

It was Gabe's birthday yesterday. Weekday birthdays suck, and Monday birthdays are the worst. Especially crappy are Monday birthdays when you are broke because your husband is owed thousands of dollars by clients who don't pay their bills.

Still, I managed to get him a gift, a nice cologne from Sephora. And we had a quiet evening at home with the girls and my parents. It's not how I envisioned his special day. I wanted to get him a couple of his favorite shirts from the Big and Tall store. I was hoping to take him out for an intimate dinner, or maybe steal away for a weekend trip, just the two of us. I would have done so many things for him, if only I could afford it. But I did not have the cash, and I am very careful with my credit cards lately. This is not the time to be reckless.

We'll get to do something later this week. We will all go out for brunch on Sunday, to celebrate Gabe's birthday, my stepdad's birthday and Mother's Day. It's a nice place in the Montrose area, called Baba Yega. I love it.
