Progress Report

This is how our master bedroom looked on Monday, after they tore the carpet out. Gabe and I started painting, and were horrified when we saw our color choice plastered on the walls. It does not look at all like the paint swatch at the store. Called Summer, it was supposed to be a light, peachy color, not the retina-burning hue you see in the picture.
Immediately we started to plan our next visit to the hardware store, and how many shades lighter the color needs to be in order for me to be able to fall asleep in the room. Isabel, on the other hand, loved it. "I like the orange in the bedroom, daddy!"- she screamed delightedly.

This is how the room looks now, with the new wood floor in. I love the floor, it almost makes the color on the walls look normal.

  1. Isn't it amazing how the color on the walls changes as it dries? I am sure the change in flooring affected the hue, too.

Looks like ya'll are movin' right along. Hang in there!

  2. Oh yes... it looks MUCH better dry!

But, now poor Isa is going to be disappointed.

  3. I REALLY! Really!! love the floor too.

The color never looks the same on the walls then it does on the swatches. also paint tends to change colors in different lighting.

ps... I have a present for you on my blog.

  4. I was going to say that it didn't look so bad in the photos. Then I imaginged myself standing in that room, and it does look rather overpowering! You should get a sampler first - the swatches aren't much good.

Why I am saying this, you've already worked that one out the hard way ;-)

  5. I love wood floors. We have mostly wooden floors and I never complain about sweeping dog hair, etc. I love the way a wood floor opens up a room so beautifully.

    And...well...the color isn't THAT bad.

  6. I am in love with the new floors. I can't wait for the whole house to be done.
