Tuesday

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

The Knife, "Heartbeats"
(by way of Jose Gonzalez)

Sometimes I wish I had faith in a divinity. No, really. To be able to hold onto the idea that there is someone up there looking after me; that there is a plan and a method to the madness of this world and if only I would give myself to him my life would be full of meaning. It would certainly give me solace and I understand why people need religion.

But I can't do it. I just can't.

  2. I rarely feel the lack, though sometimes...

For me, the conviction that there isn't really any higher purpose, that it's all random, makes the universe seem even more impressive and wonderful.

  3. Brian, I know what you mean. That is my usual attitude in life. It is that randomness that makes me appreciate things more and be grateful that I exist.

  4. I just try to remember how the wonderful things that humans have created really are *their* creations (art, music, literature), and that keeps me happy. I wouldn't want to relinquish control to anyone, so I don't usually miss that feeling like there's a big daddy in the sky taking care of me. :)

*hugs* I hope you've cheered since Tuesday!
