OMFGG

I am addicted to Gossip Girl. I resisted the show for two years, aware of its existence due to TV promos, Gawker recaps and The Soup. I had no interest in watching a show about rich, spoiled high school kids from the Upper East Side and their endless drinking and bed-hopping. Or so I told myself.

Then one day in late November I happened to be bored and watched a season 3 episode. I made fun of it, but kept watching whatever s3 reruns they were showing over the holidays. I ended up buying season 1 through iTunes and spent endless hours last weekend watching it. Paula rolls her eyes at me and does not buy my argument that I am watching it ironically, kind of the way I watched 90210/Melrose Place when I was younger. Gabe made fun of me for several days, but now he is Chuck Bass' biggest fan. He even came home last night with the DVD set of season 2!

It is hard to explain why I like this show. At one point during my season 1 marathon, Gabe looked at me and said: Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't these people the embodiment of everything you hate about American society?

Yes, they are. If I met these people in real life I would be bored by their vapid lives and I would resent their entitled ways. I would hate to live in such a female passive-aggressive, queen bee social environment. Yet I love the show. I just do.

{seven}52, week 2: birthday party

Yesterday was Isabel's birthday party. I know, her birthday was on January 6. But we did not have her party until yesterday due to availability at the gymnastics school she wanted to have the party at.

The kids had a lot of fun. I have a few snippets of video that I may edit and post later. For now, here are some pictures of the kids sitting together at the table.

Devastation in Haiti

My thoughts are with the people of Haiti, affected by yesterday's earthquake.

3 to complete the first 7

As I mentioned the other day, I am thinking of following the {seven}52 photography challenge that my friend Nichole invented. I have already published these three + this one pictures this week, and now I am posting three more pictures from earlier this week to complete my first batch.

Inanity on Twitter

Parallel to participating in my friend Nichole's challenge, I have decided to post at least one inane/idiotic thing on Twitter every day for the next 30 days.

Today's post was: Ate leftover ribs for breakfast.

I want to see how many followers I lose before the month is up.

Incentive

When it comes to Facebook, Twitter and blogging, I simply get bored.

I don't like the silly Facebook applications.

I lack the frantic, ADD drive to share the slightest minutia, the brain diarrhea that seems to be required to thrive on Twitter.

I am much more attached to my blog, but I neglect it. I let the day to day grind keep me from taking time from something I enjoy. For a while I have been thinking that I should find some kind of imperative or structure to ensure I post regularly.

Nichole, one of my mommy board friends just created a new blog to document her progress on a self-imposed photography challenge. I loved the idea of the challenge: take and post seven photos each week for 52 weeks, gradually increasing the use of manual settings. So I have decided to join Nichole and accept the {seven}52 challenge. Anybody else wants to join?
